New opening in Milan: “Robata Kan” brings the traditional robata in Italy
The experience revolves around robata, an ancient Japanese grilling technique originating from the simple gestures of coastal and rural communities.
Fishermen and farmers gathered around the irori, the hearth, to cook meat, fish, and vegetables harvested during the day.
The first restaurant specializing in this style, owned by the same company, opened in Sendai in the 1950s, becoming a historic establishment that now boasts around ten locations in Tokyo with the same format.
The restaurant at Viale Vittorio Veneto 18 seats around 50, including 15 at the counter, allowing for a direct and immersive experience with the cuisine.
A curious fact? The dishes are served with a stick, according to the authentic robata custom.
